What it solves
Nobody buys more than they can carry. The trolley and the basket are the physical ceiling on average ticket, and also the first thing a customer touches on the way in. A worn fleet — jammed wheels, rusted wire, cracked baskets — signals neglect before the shopper reaches the first aisle.
With only hand baskets, customers buy what fits in one arm. The format of the vessel decides how much leaves the store.
